Mastering Juggling: Michael Marlin’s Willingness to Fail Many Times is Key to Success
Michael Marlin was invited by Rich Litvin* to open the final day of his incredible coaching conference in Santa Monica – with juggling. Using one to five balls, Michael rocks Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody #2.** This is only the beginning of Michael’s talents. Half a billion people in at least 15 countries have come to his LUMA Theater light show! Keep reading.
Check out this 24 second excerpt of Michael’s juggling performance.
Michael Marlin is not only a transformational life coach, he is also a director, inventor and author. His juggling is inventive. In his words, it is “a highly syncopated routine that takes intense concentration.” It took him years to master. He explains,
“The only reason I can do this and you can’t is because I am willing to drop more than you are willing to pick up.”
to which the Type “A” super successful fellow coaches in the audience enthusiastically whooped and applauded.
Michael was illustrating how his path to become a master juggler and the path of a transformational life coach are similar.
“Failures (dropping) are part of the journey and if I don’t have failures I am not on the journey.”
Failing fast and failing often is entrepreneur advice de rigueur. Famous failers who succeeded…Edison, Franklin, Lincoln. But using juggling as a framework? Whooh! That’s a visual explanation audiences around the world in any language can understand and appreciate! As a perfectionist, I’ve been failure resistant. But Michael Marlin? He has had to have seriously have dropped a lot of balls to make his performance such perfection. I don’t think I have the patience or the attention span. But I can admire it!
And if this isn’t enough to fascinate you already, as mentioned above Michael Marlin has entertained half a billion people since 1998 with his LUMA Theater. http://www.lumatheater.com
LUMA is a live show that uses the dark as canvas and light as the brush to create moving illuminated illusion of light, color and motion. Michael had a dream to create it after spending time in the desert away from the city lights and experiencing the beauty of the stars in the dark night sky. LUMA represents his desire for people to be able to see the night sky and stay connected to the heavens they belong to.
Thank you for inspiring the world, Michael Marlin.
And thank you for permission to share a short clip of you juggling. We can’t wait to see your next creation!
* Rich Litvin coaches top coaches who fly in from all around the world to attend his 3-day Serving the Incredible Coaching Intensives. This one is in Santa Monica. Rich Litvin is co-author of The Prosperous Coach (with Steve Chandler).

This is such a wonderful metaphor to sticking to it until it becomes unstuck.
So much appreciate this posting and never thought my work as a juggler would
be used in such a way to illustrate such a thing.
persistently,
Marlin
